What comes next?
I really liked that this episode had Ahsoka and Sabine coming back together – it felt like there was too much that needed to happen in this show for them to be at odds for too long. I can’t wait to see their master-apprentice bond outright, and they have formidable enemies. Thrawn’s return is sure to be ominous, but Baylan is still a curious character. We’ll have to see what his arc will be.
I’m also dying for more Rebels cameos. I’ve already mentioned Force ghost Kanan, but I’ll kill to see Zeb at some point. We already got him live-action in The Mandalorian! Maybe we can get Kallus too?
And… JACEN. Where is he?
At first, when I finished episode 2, I was a bit disappointed that Ahsoka was training Sabine. Who would be training Jacen? But I soon realized that there could be a very good reason for that, and I hope it’s true: Ahsoka is saving Jacen to be trained by Ezra when he comes home.
Oh man, getting to see Ezra meet Jacen for the first time, since he doesn’t even know this kid exists… I need this in my life. Also, bringing Jacen in would also make for some painful Kanan/Hera memories.
And, stepping away from Rebels for a moment – I can be patient. I know that Anakin is going to be in this show at some point, whether it be as a memory or a Force ghost. I’m glad Ahsoka is taking its time with bringing him in. Kenobi had some fantastic Obi-Wan and Anakin angst – let’s hope Ahsoka will also deliver when it comes to Anakin’s strongest relationships.
Now, for fun, here are my untranslated notes that I took while watching both episodes.
