This is a crossposted review of Aquicorn Cove from my Goodreads account. The original review can be read here.
This was so sweet and lovely. I’m quite a fan of Kay O’Neill’s The Tea Dragon Society series, so I went into this expecting another fluffy, light-hearted and diverse story.
And this was that, but it was so much more. I was delighted by the way this book discussed treating our oceans and corals, and how even a small impact is important. The fantastical themes work so well with the environmental ones, and there’s still that touch of queerness that I always love from O’Neill.
This story is also a coming-of-age one for young Lana, and watching her gain strength from her mother’s hometown to come into herself is so nice.
Aquicorn Cove deserves 5/5 stars.
